Working towards smart and green mobility in Europe requires seamless data flows. The central topic of the third workshop of the series will be the use of data platforms and interfaces in innovative ways to improve European mobility and transport.

In many European countries is, various platforms exist to assemble and provide mobility data. Innovative approaches can enhance the links between these platforms and expand access and sharing of knowledge. New approaches can allow for a better use of the available datasets to contribute to improved transport services, intermodality, integration of new technologies and infrastructure maintenance and planning.

The aim of the third mFUND seminar is, on the one hand, to enable networking between projects with a similar thematic focus. On the other hand, the event also intends to inform policymakers and practitioners about new developments, opportunities and innovations in the field of digitalisation and data applications. In return, through contacts with partners from public entities or businesses, research and innovation projects can receive important guidance for the implementation of their projects and for exploring potential business opportunities.

Following a keynote presentation on the challenge and benefits of managing mobility data flow at European level, experts in related fields will exchange on their innovative ideas and experiences with participants.

Bring your knowledge and ideas to the discussion.

We look forward to your participation!

About the online mFUND-Workshop series “Data Innovations for Smart Mobility in Europe”

Data has become an important driver in all areas of our modern society and its importance is increasing every day. Data is the basis for most digital innovations. It offers enormous potential for new business models and products.

In the transport sector, digital technologies and data are used on a large scale to increase efficiency, reliability and safety of services and infrastructure and economy. At the same time, data based solutions contribute to reducing the use of resources and tackle climate change. Citizens can greatly benefit from data-based solutions, which can enable seamless multimodal traffic, increase safety and improve the mobility experience in all types of environments.

With the virtual conference “Open Data for Smart Mobility in Europe”, held under the auspices of the German EU Council Presidency on 17 November 2020, the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure has initiated a European dialogue on examples for data innovations in the mobility field across Europe.

To continue this knowledge exchange and to facilitate new partnerships between European projects and actors, the BMVI mFUND programme has established a new online workshops series on Data Innovations for Smart Mobility. Until the end of 2021, six events on different transportation topics will be implemented.
