At the G7 event “Standardization – a strategic instrument for climate action and the global digital energy transition”, organized by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action in Berlin, Dr. Thomas Zielke had the honor to give the closing remarks.

Zielke firmly believes that international cooperation is key for a globally harmonized quality infrastructure (QI). International standards are a contribution to peace and prosperity. They shape digital progress on mobile or stationary devices and serve the needs also of those who do not have a standardization infrastructure of their own. Moreover, standardization plays an essential role in fighting climate change and enhancing the global digital energy transition. It is important to anticipate future developments, and to find standard-related positions of overall common worldwide interest in a fast-changing world.

As candidate for Director Standardization for the International Telecommunication Union, Zielke exchanged with representatives of governments, the industry, standardization organizations as well as universities and the civil society from the G7 and other partner countries on the importance of standardization and QI for effective climate protection. One additional topic was how to attract the young generation to standardization. Zielke got many different ideas here from Canada, Germany, the USA and others.
