On 20 and 21 July, Dr Thomas Zielke participated in the 3rd African Preparatory Meeting for ITU Plenipotentiary Conference PP-22 – ICC in Algiers, Algeria.

The African Preparatory Meeting took place because the ITU Council agreed on strengthening the inter-regional preparatory process for the Plenipotentiary Conference in 2021. This year, ITU’s 21st Plenipotentiary Conference will be held in Bucharest, Romania from 26 September to 14 October.

During the meeting in Algiers, Zielke shared interesting discussions with experts from all over Africa. He witnessed the contribution of Sabin Sărmaș, the designated Chair of PP-22. Zielke also had the chance to give a short intervention as the candidate for Director Standardization for ITU-T.

Later, the participants also received new contributions and interesting inputs from Member States of the African Telecommunication Union (ATUI) and Associate Members.
