As a climate-friendly form of mobility, cycling makes an important contribution to achieving the Federal Government’s climate change targets. To this end, the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) provides resources for the promotion and funding of cycling in various programmes. We have significantly improved the financial framework for cycling and, above all, ensured funding in the long term. The investment programmes could be sustained in the medium term (cycling pilot projects and German Cycling Network programme until 2029, Cities and Rural Areas special programme until 2030).
