Volker Wissing:
Last week, I made my position on responsibility in a government coalition public in an article in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper so that everybody knows my position on this important issue. Within the party, my stance has long been known. After yesterday’s coalition committee meeting, Federal Chancellor Scholz asked me in a personal conversation whether I would be willing to continue to serve as Federal Minister for Digital and Transport under the new conditions. I thought about it and said yes. I do not want this decision to be a burden for my party and therefore informed Mr Christian Lindner today that I am leaving the FDP. This decision does not mean that I am distancing myself from the basic values of my party, and I do not want to join another party. This is a personal decision that reflects my idea of taking responsibility. I want to stay true to myself.
Federal Minister for Digital and Transport Volker Wissing will remain in office. At the same time, he has announced that he will leave the FDP.
Parliamentary State Secretaries Oliver Luksic, Daniela Kluckert and Gero Hocker simultaneously announced their resignations.
