On the occasion of the PIN Talk event of the ETSC (European Transport Safety Council) on 19 November 2020, State Secretary Dr Zieschang emphasized the importance of involving many groups in society when implementing national and international goals in the field of road safety:

In the past 50 years, we have achieved a lot in Europe in our efforts to improve road safety. In Germany, our guiding principle for more than five decades has been the following: Every road fatality is one fatality too many. The Federal Government supports the Vision Zero target. The Federation, the federal states and the local authorities as key stakeholders will join forces to move ahead here. The precondition for the implementation of Vision Zero is that all government agencies and all elements of society act in unison. The efforts undertaken by all players are to be combined under the umbrella of a joint strategy. The aim is to make road safety activities in Germany even more effective and efficient.
