Update of 18 May 2022, 14:10 hrs:

Federal Minister Dr Volker Wissing:

The 2022 International Transport Forum is THE platform for international exchange on pressing transport issues – as a think tank for the reconstruction of Ukraine but also in terms of further development, with transnational uniform standards as in rail transport.

I would appreciate it if the German and European rail industries could show what they are capable of to re-establish and improve the connections with Ukraine.

Ukraine is not alone in defending democracy! We are standing firmly at its side.

Update of 18 May 2022, 14:05 hrs:

Federal Minister Dr Volker Wissing:

The aggressive war against Ukraine and Russia’s hostile threats against democracies worldwide show us that we must joint forces and focus on defending peace and our freedom.

We are standing firmly alongside Ukraine and want to keep actively supporting it. This is why we are jointly deliberating on how we can restore its transport infrastructure to a state that ensures reliable mobility for the Ukrainian people.

We condemn the Russian invasion and state in clear terms what is happening here. President Putin has brought war back to Europe, provoked a terrible humanitarian crisis and ridden roughshod over international law.

The Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport will continue contributing to alleviating the suffering of the people in Ukraine. Since the very beginning of the invasion, together with many partner countries, we have supported refugees with the #HelpUkraine tickets. Also, we have established a ‘rail bridge’ to Ukraine to deliver relief supplies to the people on the ground.

We are working together to establish a ‘grain bridge’ to facilitate the export of grain from Ukraine, as Russia is blocking the Black Sea ports.

Update of 18 May 2022, 13:40 hrs:

Federal Minister Dr Volker Wissing:

Digital transformation offers us many possibilities: we are, for example, conducting trials in the field of car sharing to develop a system where vehicles are remotely piloted to the customer’s location.

Update of 18 May 2022, 13:20 hrs:

Federal Minister Dr Volker Wissing:

This Friday, the Ordinance on Autonomous Driving will be adopted. This will pave the way for level 4 autonomous vehicles being permitted to use public roads. It is important that we take into account everybody’s needs.

We want to analyse the individual driver behaviour of our citizens but also of tourists to develop tailor-made transport solutions.

It is our task to use the currently available technology to generate the greatest added value for our population so that we can offer the widest range of transport services – in an inclusive way, of course.

Update of 18 May 2022, 13:15 hrs:

Federal Minister Dr Volker Wissing:

We will relieve the pressure on citizens: for three months, they will be able to use local public transport and regional services all across the country for 9 euros per month.

The 9-euro ticket has several advantages: first, all citizens who are already using local public transport benefit from it. Second, it incentivizes car drivers to leave their cars at home. Third, it can be booked via a joint online platform.

Digital transformation makes it possible to organise mobility in an intelligent and interconnected, efficient and climate-friendly way.

Update vom 18. Mai 2022, 13:10 Uhr:

Bundesminister Dr. Volker Wissing:
